Freezing New Bacterial Strains as Glycerol Stocks

  1. Start by growing a 5 ml culture to mid-log phase.
  2. In a well-labeled screw capped tube add 500 µl culture to 500 µl 40% glycerol.
  3. Mix well by inverting the tube about six times or by vortexing.
  4. Place the tube in the -70 ºC freezer for indefinite storage.
